Good Practices of Haiti Coffee Rome
For our company, reflecting on the social and environmental impact we have is a drive to constantly improve. With this perspective, over the years we have taken a series of actions in various areas:
-
We have transformed our smoke emission system to make it less impactful, switching from a gas burner to a water scrubber. By misting water, it captures heavy particles and releases only water vapor into the atmosphere, significantly improving our environmental impact.
-
We have installed a photovoltaic panel system to contribute to the company’s energy needs by producing our own energy with renewable sources, reducing traditional energy consumption by more than 50%.
-
In line with better managing our emissions, we have switched to methane-powered vans for our distributors.
-
Choosing to embrace the Fairtrade system is very meaningful to us, as it ensures – in a supply chain as long as that of coffee – greater attention to the farmers and their rights through the application of a series of social, environmental, and economic criteria.
-
To reduce plastic consumption in coffee delivery, we have replaced traditional PVC film packaging with snap-fit boxes made with natural glue – which do not require tape – and are reused each time.
-
Every month, we donate our ground coffee to the Emporio della Solidarietà of the Caritas Foundation in Rome, as our contribution to the valuable work they do.
-
We have activated investment plans for our staff in line with ESG criteria, protecting their savings and in agreement with our sustainability vision.
-
To maintain high operational standards in our company, we have decided to implement a voluntary triple ISO certification system for quality, environment, and safety, to regularly measure our progress and potential for improvement.
